This year, MVIS had way too many rhizomes for the annual rhizome sale so the club planned a sale at the Sunland Park Mall in El Paso, Texas on September 28, 2019. This was the first time ever that MVIS has offered irises for sale in El Paso. There were pictures showing what each iris looked like and club members were available to answer questions. The proceeds of this sale supported the establishment of a public display garden at the Farm and Ranch Museum in Las Cruces, NM and will help MVIS host the 101st America Iris Society National Convention to be held in Las Cruces in 2021.

Giant ants and dragonflies attack the irises at the mall and nearly carried off several MVIS club members.     Those members that survived gave a $2 iris to children.  This is part of the “Growing Iris Growers” program.
